Why go now

Almaty's summer is hot and hazy and its winter is deep snow. Late September and October are the two clean weeks in between: the Tien Shan larch turns gold above Big Almaty Lake, Charyn Canyon is comfortable to walk instead of baking, and the city's outdoor cafés are still open. Add a visa-free entry for Indian passports and a four-hour flight, and it is the cheapest genuinely foreign-feeling week you can buy from north India.

  • All airport transfers and inter-city transport
  • Visa filing assistance and document preparation
  • Sightseeing with licensed local guides where it matters
  • Travel insurance, and a named coordinator on WhatsApp

  • Visa fees, which are paid to the consulate at actuals

Know before you go

  • 1Visa-free entry for Indian passports for 14 days. That is short — plan a trip of a week or so and do not overstay.
  • 2Kaindy and Kolsai are a long day from Almaty, six hours each way on rough road. An overnight in Saty village makes it far more pleasant.
  • 3English is limited. Russian and Kazakh dominate; a driver-guide is not a luxury here, it is how the trip works.

Visa for Indian passports

Visa-free for Indian passport holders for stays up to 14 days. No paperwork at all — carry a return ticket and hotel booking.

Questions

Kazakhstan — Frequently asked

If yours is not here, call or WhatsApp us — the desk answers, not a bot.

For mountains and value, yes — the Tien Shan scenery is bigger than anything in the Caucasus and the flight is shorter. For old towns, food and atmosphere, Tbilisi wins comfortably. Almaty is a Soviet grid city with spectacular mountains an hour away, and knowing that in advance is the difference between loving it and being underwhelmed.

For a normal holiday, comfortably. We build five- to seven-night itineraries, which leaves plenty of margin. If you want longer you need an e-visa, which takes about five working days and we can arrange.

It takes effort. Kazakh cuisine is meat-centred and vegetarianism is not a familiar concept outside Almaty's newer cafés. The city has Indian and Turkish restaurants that solve it. Outside the city, we brief the driver and pre-arrange meals — otherwise you will live on bread and salad.
