Cherry blossom gets the attention, but autumn is the better trip: the colour lasts weeks instead of days, the weather is dry and cool instead of unpredictable, and hotel rates are noticeably below April. The koyo front starts in the northern mountains in October and reaches Kyoto's temples around the third week of November — the same maples, the same crowds-in-the-photos gardens, at half the booking anxiety of sakura season.

1The visa needs about 7–10 working days and a documented itinerary with confirmed hotels. Start it the week you book — this is the single most common reason a Japan trip slips.
2Vegetarian food is genuinely difficult. Dashi (fish stock) is in almost everything. We brief you properly and pre-book vegetarian and Jain-friendly restaurants.
3Cash still matters at temples, small restaurants and rural stations, even though cards work in cities.

It is less expensive than most people assume once you are there — trains, convenience-store food and business hotels are all reasonable. The costs that hurt are the flight and the JR Pass. A realistic all-in figure for seven nights is ₹1.45–2.2 lakh per person depending on hotel class and how many Shinkansen legs you take.

Only if you are doing three or more long-distance legs. Since the 2023 price rise, a Tokyo–Kyoto–Osaka trip is usually cheaper on individual tickets. We run the maths for your exact route rather than defaulting to the pass, which is what most agents do.

Japan's refusal rate for Indian tourist applications with complete documentation is low. Refusals almost always come from incomplete bank statements, a vague itinerary or unconfirmed hotels. Because we book the hotels first and file the itinerary against them, the applications we support are complete by construction.
