What a trip actually costs from India, line by line
Package headline prices are built to be the lowest number that is technically true. Here is what each component actually costs, so you can tell a real quote from a bait one.
Every package price you see online is a floor, and the honest question is what the floor excludes. Across the quotes we see, the same five things get left out: airport transfers, monument tickets, lunches, visa fees and single-occupancy supplements. Together they typically add 18–30% to the headline.
Domestic trips, per person, twin sharing
International trips, per person, twin sharing
The five line items that get hidden
- 1Airport transfers. A Maldives seaplane is ₹18,000–25,000 per person return. A Bali airport-to-Ubud car is ₹2,500. Both are routinely excluded from the headline.
- 2Monument and activity tickets. A six-city Rajasthan route runs ₹3,500–5,000 per person in entry fees alone. Cappadocia balloons are ₹18,000–24,000.
- 3Lunches. Excluded from almost every package. Budget ₹500–900 a day in India, ₹1,200–2,500 abroad.
- 4Visa fees. Legitimately at actuals, but should be stated. Japan is around ₹500, the UAE ₹6,500, Türkiye consular around ₹5,000 plus service charges.
- 5Single occupancy. A solo traveller pays 40–70% more than the twin-sharing figure, not the same amount. Any quote that does not say which it is showing is showing you twin.
Where you can save without losing anything
- Book flights six to eight weeks out. Beyond ten weeks prices are usually higher, not lower; inside three weeks they climb steeply.
- Travel Tuesday to Thursday. Weekend departures on domestic routes carry a ₹2,000–4,000 premium each way.
- Take the shoulder-season window. On Kerala, Goa and the Maldives it is a 30–50% saving for a comparable or better experience.
- Downgrade the hotel, not the guide. A licensed guide at Hampi or Kyoto changes the trip far more than a fourth star does.
How we quote
Our indicative figures are the honest floor including flights from a major metro, and the final number is confirmed on the call once we know your departure city, exact dates and room configuration. Transfers, permits and taxes are inside that number. If a component genuinely cannot be included — a visa fee, an optional balloon flight — it is listed separately with its actual cost rather than left off the page.
