November to April

Why go now

The Maldives has a wet southwest monsoon from May to October and a dry northeast season from November to April. November is the first dry month and by some distance the cheapest of them — resorts that charge ₹60,000 a night at Christmas are half that in the second and third weeks of November, with essentially the same weather. Visibility for snorkelling and diving improves through the month as the water settles.

Know before you go

  • 1Free visa on arrival for 30 days. Nothing to apply for; carry a confirmed hotel booking.
  • 2The transfer is a major cost and is often quoted separately. A seaplane can add ₹40,000 per couple; a speedboat resort in North or South Malé atoll avoids it entirely.
  • 3Local islands like Maafushi and Thulusdhoo cost a fifth of a resort but are inhabited — alcohol is unavailable and modest dress applies outside the tourist beach.

Visa for Indian passports

Free visa on arrival for 30 days for Indian passports. No application, no fee — just a confirmed hotel booking and a return ticket.

Questions

Maldives — Frequently asked

If yours is not here, call or WhatsApp us — the desk answers, not a bot.

Resort if this is a honeymoon or a milestone trip and the overwater villa is the point. Local island if you want the same water and reefs at a fifth of the price and do not mind a guesthouse, a public beach and no alcohol. Both are legitimate; the mistake is booking a local island expecting a resort experience.

At almost every resort, yes — Indian guests are a large share of the market and most kitchens have an Indian chef. Jain requirements need to be notified at booking, not on arrival, because supply boats run to a schedule. We do that as part of the booking.

Speedboat to a nearby atoll is ₹8,000–14,000 per person return. A seaplane to a distant atoll is ₹18,000–25,000 per person return and only operates in daylight, which can cost you a night. We always quote the transfer inside the package price rather than leaving it as a surprise at the airport.
