Why go now

The Western Ghats spend the monsoon under continuous rain and are barely visitable. From September the downpour breaks into mist, Abbey and Iruppu falls are still full, and the coffee is reddening on the bush ahead of the November–January harvest — the estates are at their most photogenic and their most fragrant. It is also the last stretch before the December weekend rush turns Madikeri's roads into a car park.

What a typical package covers

  • Return flights or train from your departure city
  • Hotels or homestays on twin sharing, hand-picked rather than allocated
  • Daily breakfast, and dinner where the location has no reasonable alternative
  • A dedicated vehicle with driver for the whole itinerary
  • All permits, entry formalities and inter-city transfers
  • A named coordinator on WhatsApp for the length of the trip

Not included

  • Lunches, and any meal not named in the itinerary
  • Monument and activity tickets unless stated on your quote
  • Anything personal — laundry, tips, phone, medical

Know before you go

  • 1Leeches are real on estate walks in September. Salt and closed shoes handle it; nobody warns first-timers.
  • 2This is a driving destination — Bengaluru to Madikeri is about six hours and the last stretch is winding.
  • 3Homestays here are genuinely homes. Meals are at fixed hours and there is no room service; that is the appeal, not a shortcoming.

Questions

Coorg & Chikmagalur — Frequently asked

If yours is not here, call or WhatsApp us — the desk answers, not a bot.

Coorg is more developed with better homestays, more to do and more traffic. Chikmagalur is quieter, has the higher peaks, and suits people who want to walk. Four nights lets you do both with a two-hour transfer in between, which is what most of our groups pick.

Very. Short drives, no altitude, estates children can run around in, and the elephant camp at Dubare works for every age. The one thing to watch is the winding ghat road, which causes motion sickness in young children — we schedule that leg for the morning.

From Bengaluru, yes — leave Friday evening, return Sunday night, pick one of the two. From anywhere further it does not work; the road time swallows the trip. We only sell two-night windows to Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad departures for that reason.
