Why go now
The Great Rann is a seasonal salt marsh: from June to September it is under water and simply cannot be visited. It dries through October and by early November the crust is firm enough to walk on, which is when Rann Utsav's tent city opens. The thing to plan around is the full moon — the white salt under a full moon is the entire reason the place is famous, and those three or four nights a month sell out first.

One night in the tent city for the full-moon Rann visit, then Bhuj for the craft villages. The tent city is comfortable but expensive and slightly artificial; Bhuj is a real town with better food and half the tariff. Doing all three nights in the tent city is the most common overspend we talk people out of.
Sunset over the salt is spectacular on any night, and a no-moon night gives extraordinary stars over a white ground. But the postcard image everyone has in mind is full-moon, so if the dates are flexible, plan around it. Our November windows are deliberately built to include the full-moon nights.
Yes, but it needs nine or ten days total — Kutch and Gir are on opposite sides of Gujarat and the drive is long. Gir's lion safaris reopen in mid-October after the monsoon closure, so November works for both. Ask on the call and we will lay out the route honestly, including how much of it is road time.
